US Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ) said members of the Democratic Socialists of America are not Democrats and are attempting to use the party as a vessel for socialist and communist ideas. In a news interview, he said that DSA members support the Communist Manifesto and Trotsky, describing them as anti-American, anti-cop, and opposed to borders. Gottheimer estimated the group has about 150,000 members compared with 45 million Democrats and urged Democrat Party leaders to make clear they are not welcome. He suggested they form their own party instead of taking over the Democrat Party.

Commerce Department Takes Minority Equity Stakes In Seven Semiconductor Firms
The Department of Commerce announced letters of intent to provide $874 million in CHIPS and Science Act funding to seven companies in exchange for minority, non-controlling equity stakes. The funds support research and development in advanced photonics, AI memory, compute architectures and related semiconductor technologies. GlobalFoundries is set to receive up to $300 million, Kepler up to $245 million and Multibeam Corporation up to $140 million, with the remainder going to Extropic, Thintronics, Obsidia Semiconductors and Aeluma. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said the investments will enhance domestic capabilities and create high-paying jobs.

ICE Detentions Hit July Record Under Trump Immigration Enforcement Push
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement recorded more than 46,000 detentions in July, the highest monthly total of President Trumpâs second term. The figure surpassed the previous high of about 43,000 in June, with an average of roughly 1,500 people detained daily. About 68,000 individuals remained in ICE custody as of the weekend, near the January peak of over 70,000. Enforcement has expanded to airports, traffic stops, and communities as the administration advances its deportation goals amid ongoing debate over tactics.
NYPD Reports Huge Rise In Hate Crimes Under Mayor Mamdani With Majority Targeting Jews
New York City Police Department data shows confirmed hate crimes increased 9.4 percent year to date through July, with 360 incidents compared to 329 last year. More than half of the confirmed hate crimes, or 56.9 percent, were anti-Jewish, even though Jewish residents make up about 10 percent of the cityâs population. Anti-Jewish hate crimes rose 8.5 percent to 205 incidents. The figures come as overall shootings and murders reached historic lows.

NYC Mayor Mamdani Plans Residency Check For City Grocery Stores

US Murders On Pace For 126-Year Low After Immigrant Deportations DHS Says

The figures come from a Council on Criminal Justice analysis of city crime data showing declines in carjackings, vehicle thefts and robberies as well.
