The Islamic call to prayer, known as the Adhan, is now broadcast publicly five times per day across Minneapolis after the city council amended its noise ordinance. The change, approved unanimously in 2023 and made permanent, allows mosques to amplify the call at any hour, including before dawn. Minneapolis, located in the majority Christian state of Minnesota where Protestants and Catholics form the largest religious groups, became the first major U.S. city to permit year-round outdoor broadcasts of all five daily calls. Officials compared the practice to church bells or the shofar, although neither is artificially amplified.

US Dept. of Justice Launches Largest Denaturalization Effort In Department History
The Justice Department has filed complaints seeking to revoke the citizenship of 25 naturalized individuals from 17 countries, marking its largest coordinated denaturalization effort on record. Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said the cases involve allegations of fraud, concealment of violent crimes, child sexual abuse and other disqualifying conduct. The filings, made between July 20 and Aug. 3, bring the departmentâs total denaturalization cases to 88 since January 2025. Officials described the actions as only the beginning of efforts to protect the integrity of the naturalization process.
Darline Graham Pledges To End Filibuster And Stand Fully Behind Trump In SC Senate Debate
Sen. Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Setting Old Trails Fire In Spokane County
A 37-year-old Spokane-area man, Aaron F. Farinacci, was arrested Monday on suspicion of first-degree arson in connection with the Old Trails fire. The blaze destroyed hundreds of homes in northwest Spokane County after igniting Saturday. Witnesses reported Farinacci acting suspiciously and kneeling in grass near the ignition site. Investigators found he possessed waterproof matches and a butane lighter consistent with the fireâs origin. The Washington Department of Natural Resources is leading the probe and has ruled out natural causes.
JPMorgan Chase Plans $750 Billion Housing Investment Through 2035
JPMorgan Chase announced plans to deploy more than $750 billion into housing through 2035 to increase supply and support homeownership. The bank aims to finance one million affordable housing units and help 500,000 customers, including 200,000 first-time buyers, purchase homes. The effort marks a nearly 40 percent increase in housing capital deployment from the prior decade and forms part of the companyâs American Dream Initiative.
