Odeh is a Palestinian operative convicted in Israel for her role in a 1969 supermarket bombing that killed two students. Chevalier cofounded Columbia University Apartheid Divest. As a student, she belonged to Students for Justice in Palestine. She disrupted a campus sexual assault rally to highlight Odeh’s claims of rape in Israeli custody. When a Jewish student objected in a letter to the editor, Chevalier responded by accusing him of benefiting from a colonialist power structure and endangering Palestinian students. Chevalier leads in recent polls and has ties to Zohran Mamdani. She has a history of militant anti-Israel activism, including support for groups that back armed resistance.
