The Left’s Obsession With LGBTQ Makes Sense If This Is The Case

If you traverse social media it is impossible not to see the ongoing lexical confrontation between those who are concertedly supportive of the LGBTQ+ movement – and especially as it is “pride” month and those who are increasingly viewing that support as an attack on heterosexuality and the traditional family. But when you step back from the fray, understanding that something larger is at play isn't hard.

That “something larger” – and it is purposeful; validated by contemporary history, is to transition (pardon the pun) our society from one that respects the sanctity of individualism, the nuclear family, and natural rights to one that accepts the government as the significant influence in our lives and especially in a child’s life, thus replacing natural rights bestowed by a Higher Power with rights sanctioned (and malleable) by the government.

Disclaimer

It is quite sad that I have to include a disclaimer before moving forward to the subject at hand, but in today’s world – as frighteningly obtuse as it is – it is a requirement.

For the record –  and I want to state this clearly – I don’t care about anyone’s personal sex life. It’s not my place to care. Perhaps that’s a bit more Libertarian than most conservatives, but that’s where I exist because I believe in the uniquely American tenet of individualism. We all have an inalienable right to be who we choose to be. So, if you want to identify as a doorknob that wants to transition to being a tree stump, I say good for you.

So, to my detractors, stop being so shallow and kneejerk that you have to find an affront to everything you hear. Have the courage to examine the facts and the history. If you can’t do that then you are the problem!

The Erasure Of Parental Influence & Authority

It has become routine; a daily story for news media. An extra-familial entity is intervening – uninvited – into the family hierarchy. Each of these events further advances the numbing agent of repetition into society so that one day people will have heard the story so many times the reports start to blur together, the reporting voices start to sound like the droning of the adult characters on The Peanuts cartoons, and society apathetically accepts the radical replacement of the parent by the State.

In California, SB107 was passed into law. As Emilie Kao, senior counsel for Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), told reporters:

“We think it’s a drastic overreach by California…Not only does it violate parents’ fundamental rights to direct the upbringing of their children, [but] it also violates federal law on child custody and jurisdiction because it basically supersedes the federal law that gives jurisdiction to states on child custody matters.

“With this law, California is basically saying it can take temporary emergency jurisdiction over any child from anywhere if there’s a disagreement between a parent and the state of California over how to treat a child’s gender distress…”

In Minnesota, HF146 was passed. This law, supporters say, is meant to prevent authorities from removing a child from parental custody should an order from outside Minnesota be issued. They say the legislation will ensure that children undergoing gender transition procedures permitted under Minnesota law cannot be governed by child protection laws of other states.

But Bob Roby, a seasoned family and juvenile court attorney integral to opposing this legislation, stated:

“The most insidious aspect of this bill is the language that adds children who are being denied ‘gender-affirming care’ – defined as everything from therapy to hormone blockers, to transition surgery – to what amounts to the definition for a child ‘in need of protection or services’ in Minnesota, allowing the courts to take ‘emergency custody’ of the child.”

Additionally, Renee Carlson, general counsel of True North Legal, a legal initiative of Minnesota Family Council, told reporters the bill will, “[increase] litigation for the courts while stripping parents of their fundamental rights.” She continued to say the legislation would “disregard informed consent” laws and entice minor children to a dangerous path of “serious lifelong biological and medical consequences.”

And earlier this week the New York State Education Department released 42 pages of new “guidance” for public schools that included a section about keeping children's gender transitions a secret from parents.

The report, titled Creating a Safe, Supportive, and Affirming School Environment for Transgender and Gender Expansive Students, declares that a student’s gender identity should be based on the student’s own assertion and that administrators should keep such information from families if they decide secrecy is required.

“School personnel’s acceptance of a student’s asserted gender identity should require no more than a statement from the student expressing their preference. Schools do not need to require permission, letters from professionals, or other proof of gender identity…Some [transgender and gender expansive] students have not talked to their families about their gender identity because of safety concerns or lack of acceptance and may begin their transition at school without parent/guardian knowledge…”

The Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF), which bills itself as an “independent source for health policy research, polling, and news” but routinely tracks Left of Center, identifies at least 17 other states that exist copacetic with California and Minnesota: Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington.

Massive Support From The Biden Administration

On his very first day in office – as he was rolling back his predecessor’s Executive Orders en mass, President Biden made it very clear that he was fully behind the LGBTQ+ – and especially the Trans – movement. And in May of 2021, the Biden Administration ordered the Department of Health & Human Services Office for Civil Rights (DHS OCR) to include “gender identity and sexual orientation” in its interpretation and enforcement of Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act expanding the prohibition against sex discrimination to include – specifically – those who identify as trans. 

KFF also points to a flurry of statements from the Biden administration in the aftermath of the passage of a Texas directive reaffirming parental rights where all legal aspects of a child’s upbringing are concerned:

• A statement from the Biden White House said it was “putting the state of Texas on notice that their discriminatory actions put children’s lives at risk. These announcements make clear that rather than weaponizing child protective services against loving families, child welfare agencies should instead expand access to gender-affirming care for transgender children.”

• HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra said reaffirmed HHS’s “commitment to supporting and protecting transgender youth” and detailed action items the administration is taking in response to the Texas directive.

• The HHS’s Administration on Children, Youth& Families issued an “Information Memorandum” to state child welfare agencies stating that child welfare systems should advance safety and support for LGBTQI+ youth, including through access to gender-affirming care.

• The DHS OCR issued a “notice” with “guidance” that laid out federal enforcement policy for nondiscrimination related to gender identity based on Section 1557 of the ACA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (interesting that this alludes to gender-affirming care as a disability issue).

The DHS OCR is the enforcement arm for those applicable federal laws and, therefore, exhibits the federal government’s desire to expand the issue of gender dysphoria – and especially where parental purview is concerned – into the realm of Civil Rights law.

The Massive Support, While
Empathetic Is Disproportionate

As I wrote not long ago in an article titled, Today, Little Johnny Identifies As A Baseball Bat – which I was surprised to find some were uncomfortable with:

“...to listen to the leaders of the [LGBTQ+ and] transgender movement; to witness how this movement is being embraced by corporate America, the government, and the for-profit medical industry, one would believe it affects more people than heart disease and cancer combined.

“From the brand-destructive marketing and corporate actions of Anheuser-Busch and Disney to the CYA actions of corporations like Target, to governments legislating the “acceptance” of transgenderism into the realm of normal, people are being coerced into accepting transgenderism and gender dysphoria as mainstream when all of the evidence points – overwhelmingly – to the contrary.

“Again, I am not saying that we shouldn’t have empathy for those who are truly afflicted by the disorder – and remember that label is validated by the medical and psychological communities. I am saying that it is unreasonable and, in fact, aggressively coercive to force the issue into the mainstream so that people are disenfranchised from the mainstream for acknowledging that less than one percent of the global population is affected by it.”

The fact of the matter on the demographics is this. The LGBTQ+ community – and especially the gender dysphoric community – is incredibly smaller than the massively over-blown share of attention it receives.

According to the 2020 US Census, adults 18 and over identify:

• 4.4% as bisexual

• 3.3% as gay or Lesbian

• 0.6% as transgender

• 88.3 % as straight

• 3.4% as something else/don’t know

These results exist a bit higher than the consensus held by the mainstream media complex, which pins the overall percentage of those identifying as LGBTQ+ at 7.1 percent.

Interesting to note (and applicable to the underlying point this article is trying to make) is that over the years, as the activists, the media, and the politicians have afforded disproportionate attention to the LGBTQ+ demographic – and as the subject increasingly captivates the news cycles and social media spheres, those identifying as LGBTQ+ has increased 5.4% for Millenials (1980-1996) and just 3.8% for Gen Zers (1997-2004). The percentage of those identifying as LGBTQ+ falling into the Generation X (1965-1980), Baby Boomer (1946-1964), and Silent Generation (1945-Earlier) has remained relatively steady at under 3.5 percent.

The overriding commonality between the Gen Z and Millenial generations is their exposure to the propaganda full-court press of the activists, media venues (both programmed and social), and gratuitous politicians as they pander for special interest votes.

But to that last entity – the gratuitous politicians – there is more to the story…and it ain’t good!

Mao’s De-Sexualization of the Masses

Before the rise of Mao Zedong through the Cultural Revolution in China (1966-1976), the Chinese culture centered on the concept of filial piety, which emphasized respect, obedience, and loyalty to one’s parents and ancestors. 

Mao’s Cultural Revolution sought to eradicate perceived vestiges of bourgeois and capitalist values, which, they held, presented an obstacle to the establishment of a truly socialist society. In his quest to transform Chinese society into a socialist – and then, fully, to a communist state (socialism is a stepping stone to communism), Mao and his newly formed Chinese Communist Party (CCP) sought to weaken the influence of filial piety by promoting the idea of loyalty to the CCP above all else; loyalty towards the state rather than the family, thereby undermining the traditional hierarchical structure of society. That weakening included the de-sexualization of the traditional Chinese culture.

Traditional gender roles were deconstructed and redefined to align with Maoist philosophy, the traditional definitions promoted as being oppressive and detrimental to gender equality. Traditional gender norms, including societal expectations of femininity and masculinity, were deprecated and eventually expunged to promote a more egalitarian society.

With the help of the Red Guards – and the support of the CCP, the portrayal of traditional relationships and gender identities in literature, art, and media was deemed inappropriate and were subject to censorship and outright condemnation as the CCP viewed traditional gender roles and the existence of nuclear families as potential distractions from the revolution’s goals, fearing they could lead to individualism and a deviation from collectivist principles.

So, under Mao’s leadership, the Red Guards launched a campaign against the “Four Olds” – old ideas, old culture, old customs, and old habits. Traditional gender identities and the veneration of Confucian ideals were labeled as remnants of the past and were actively expunged from society, oftentimes physically and violently suppressed.

They encouraged young people to rebel against their parents, identifying them as representatives of the old and backward society. Children were encouraged to publicly humiliate and even physically assault their own parents in the name of revolution.

All of this led to the Great Leap Forward (1958-1962), which saw peasants forced to abandon private ownership of land and the forced assignment into collective farms known as communes, breaking down the individualistic nature of family life and replacing it with a collective identity centered on labor and production for the state.

The State – the communist Chinese state – had successfully replaced the nuclear family. Everyone belonged to the State. The State had become the Alpha and Omega.

The Similarities Should Be Plain To See

When one fully understands the history of the Marxist movement, especially as used by Mao during the Chinese Communist Revolution, one can see a litany of similarities between what happened during China’s transformation to an oppressive communist regime and what is happening in the United States today, at least from a cultural point of view.

Not only is there an ongoing and aggressive erasure of the nuclear family through the marginalization of parental rights and authorities in deference to “the state”, but we are also witnessing an attempt by radically fringe transformationalists – dedicated to advancing collectivism (read: Marxism) in the United States – to erase and redefine traditional genders.

So, when all of the legal documents are changed to represent the new definitions set forth by the radical transformationalists to explain the genders; when traditional gender definitions no longer exist and we are all homogenized into asexualized beings that use emotionless “hook-ups” to plug into each other for purposes of procreation; when the nuclear family is mocked into non-existence, is that when the far-Left’s version of the Red Guards swoops in to drag the constitutionalists and the individualists; those who believe in Americanism away to the federal government’s re-education gulags?

We’ve already witnessed neighbors turning neighbors into the authorities for violating “the state’s” draconian and unwarranted COVID measures…It’s not that far of a stretch.

That said, now you know why the LGBTQ+ and transgender movements are such a sweet spot for the radicals of centralized government.
