Why Our Self-Imposed High Gas Prices Are A Direct Threat To The People
Today the national average for gasoline hit $5 per gallon, translating to $65–$80 a fill-up for the average car. If you still need to be convinced that the pain you are feeling at the gas pump isn’t self-inflicted, courtesy of the Green Movement and the Biden administration’s policies, then it is obvious you haven’t thought beyond the ideological angle.
These high fuel prices – gasoline and diesel – affect much more than just our personal finances. From food to public safety to our ability to get to work and congregate in opposition to governmental policies, these ideologically-based, self-inflicted financial wounds are not only a direct threat to the US economy but also a direct threat to each and every one of us.
The Elitist Snobbery Of The Ideological Set
And if you don’t think the global elitists in Washington, DC are out of touch with the pain the American people are feeling, I give you US Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), who snobbishly declared during a Senate committee hearing:
“I just have to say just on the issue of that of gas prices; after waiting for a long time to have enough chips in this country to finally get my electric vehicle, I got it and drove it from Michigan to here this last weekend and went by every single gas station. It didn’t matter how high it was.”
It is important to note that the average household income in Michigan is $59,234, income that must cover the basics, i.e. food, clothing, medicine, mortgages, etc. The average cost of an Electric Vehicle (EV) is $56,000.
And then there is “useless as tits on a bull” US Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg – who was quick to take his federally facilitated parental leave almost the second he took his position (and evidently has failed to return), who joined in Stabenow’s elitist snobbery with:
“The people who stand to benefit most from owning an EV are often rural residents...They would gain the most by having that vehicle. These are the very residents who have not always been connected to electric vehicles that are viewed as kind of a luxury item...families who own that vehicle will never have to worry about gas prices again.”
...And Why That Snobbery Is Arrogant And Short-Sighted
Only those with an IQ below that of a rotted walnut don’t understand that the overwhelming percentage of the electricity needed to charge personal EVs is produced by fossil fuels (natural gas, coal).
In fact, Alasdaire Fleitas, writing at The Federalist, notes:
“In reality, one of Tesla’s Supercharger stations was reported to get 13 percent of their energy from natural gas and 27 percent from coal. Power plants burn coal to generate electricity to power electric cars and emit a higher fossil fuel footprint than the left would care to admit.
“While...many who invest in these overpriced cars are able to avoid paying the currently outrageous gas prices...Americans’ growing reliance on electric cars and the batteries they require will increase our dependence on countries such as China for materials.”
The results of an MIT study revealed it would take roughly 70 pounds of coal to produce the energy required to charge a 66 kWh electric car battery each and every time.
And then there is the issue of manufacturing the EV. Scientists at the Argonne National Laboratory, in a 2010 publication titled Energy-Consumption & Carbon-Emission Analysis of Vehicle and Component Manufacturing, indicated that it takes twice as much energy – again, powered by fossil fuels – to produce EVs over Internal Cumbustion Vehicles.
And then, of course, there is the issue of how to dispose of the worn-out lithium batteries used to power the EVs as well as what happens to our national power grid when everyone plugs their EVs in to charge them at night across the country...
This Is Not An Attack On EVs, It’s An Attack On Policy
As much as I have outlined the downside to EVs (and I didn’t lay heavy on the cost), once the technology is perfected, or at least more so, I am all-in on alternative energy vehicles. In fact, once the renewable energy technology is perfected – or, again, at least dramatically beyond its capabilities today – I am all-in on renewables.
But we aren’t there yet. And because we aren’t there yet the Biden administration’s policies are debilitatingly premature; serving to destroy the US economy along the lines of their wholly dysfunctional and special interest-centered COVID response. The truth of the matter is this. These eco-zealot policies are going to make the Left’s COVID response feel like child’s play.
And make no mistake. The elevated energy prices we are all experiencing have nothing to do with Vladimir Putin and his aggressive war in Ukraine or the trade war with China. They have nothing to do with the global market and they have very little to do with the Biden administration’s purposeful deprecation of the supply chain. It has everything to do with policy; it is a self-inflicted economic wound that started the hour after Biden was sworn into office and one that continues to this day.
Among the President’s energy-sector-killing moves:
Canceling the completion of the Keystone XL Pipeline
Suspending oil and gas leases in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and New Mexico
Re-establishing EPA regulations that restrict domestic energy production, including resurrecting the “Waters of the United States” rule that limits how farmers and ranchers can use their land
Establishing overreaching regulations for methane emissions from oil and gas production, transmission, storage, and distribution
Establishing a new rule regulating greenhouse gas emissions from vehicles
Re-entering the regulation-heavy Paris Climate Accord
Placing a moratorium on oil and gas leasing on federal land and hydraulic fracking
Implementing portions of the Green New Deal as a matter of policy, forcing utilities to use more expensive forms of energy
The Repercussions Of Bad, Coercive Policy
The repercussions of the fascist-Left initiative to force the country to embrace Green Energy technology before it is ready for market – a movement purely coercive in nature – results in not only long-term damage to the US economy but generational damage to the American people.
Unnecessarily elevated diesel prices directly affect the cost of food in at least two ways. First, it increases the cost of bringing food products to the marketplace because diesel-powered trucks are tantamount to the exclusive transportation medium for every grocery store in the United States if not the world. Second, elevated fuel costs make it more expensive for farmers and ranchers to plant, cultivate, and harvest crops.
The elevation of these costs is directly correlated to higher food prices.
Elevated fuel prices – intentionally and self-inflicted – also diminish the worth of a working American’s income. Unless you are lucky enough to either have a home office or are afforded the freedom to telecommute, it is costing you more to travel to work.
Gas prices now hovering around $5 per gallon means that the average fill-up costs someone who drives an average car over double what it cost in January of 2020. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, prices for gasoline (all types) are 42.85 percent higher today than in 2019. That number is rising each and every day.
And now comes word that the ability to respond to 911 emergency calls is being hampered because of Mr. Biden’s embrace of shallow-minded ideological energy policies.
According to James Felton and James Paxson, reporting for WNEM-TV in Michigan:
“...the Isabella County Sheriff’s Office announced they exhausted all their fuel funds with a few months left until their budget resets. The department is now having to cut down on officer responses and are having deputies manage certain calls over the phone. Calls like ones that do not require deputies to collect evidence or crimes that are not in progress...The sheriff’s office said they will eclipse their allotted amount of $40,000 for fuel this week.”
The Green Movement In Europe
The tunnel-visioned insanity of the shallow-minded Green Movement isn’t sequestered in the United States. It is alive, well, and thriving in Europe to an extent that sees the EU blazing by the lunacy of the Biden administration.
Jennifer Rankin, reporting for the Green-friendly The Guardian writes:
“The European parliament has voted to end the sale of [gas] and diesel cars by 2035, defeating attempts by center-Right lawmakers to weaken the target.
“Lawmakers hailed a major victory for the climate after an intense day of votes on a set of laws that make up the EU green deal, the bloc’s main response to the climate crisis...
“MEPs still have to negotiate the final law with ministers from the EU’s 27 national governments. The parliament’s vote, however, increases the pressure on governments for a clear end to the internal combustion engine in the EU single market of 447 million people.”
Are We On Our Knees For The WEF
Only the intellectual stunted don’t understand that the Green Movement is a useful idiot to the global elite’s attempt to co-opt the global economy from sovereign nations. The World Economic Forum (WEF) states its intentions in its Great Reset propaganda and the mindless-Left still doesn’t get it. That’s testimony to the strength of the WEF woke Kool-Aid.
To call the WEF’s Great Reset anything less than today’s greatest threat to capitalism and individual rights – globally – is to be in error.
Simply put, the Great Reset aims to reset the global economy to the advantage of the global elite and they are using the false narrative of man-made climate change as a chief vehicle to d it. Should they succeed, it would destroy the current capitalist system and replace it with a fascist-socialist system with an emphasis on eco-socialist policies like those contained in the Green New Deal.
In an article penned by the chief narcissist at the WEF, Klaus Schwab, he states:
“...a sharp economic downturn has already begun, and we could be facing the worst depression since the 1930s. But, while this outcome is likely, it is not unavoidable.
“To achieve a better outcome, the world must act jointly and swiftly to revamp all aspects of our societies and economies, from education to social contracts and working conditions. Every country, from the United States to China, must participate, and every industry, from oil and gas to tech, must be transformed. In short, we need a ‘Great Reset’ of capitalism.”
An unelected foreign organizational head mandating what we – a free people – must do. And the elected-Left in the United States is dutifully falling in line like the blackshirts of fascist Italy and the brownshirts of Nazi Germany; all without the consent of the governed.
All Of The Above
Given the direct dangers Mr. Biden’s energy policies pose to the American people, it is clear that not only does the American electorate need to permanently marginalize the fascist-Left at the ballot box in 2022 and 2024 (and for good, actually) but we must also implore our governors to use the tool of nullification to assume control over energy policies in the immediate.
The governors of energy-producing states must act – in concert with their state legislatures – to provide relief to the American people until elections allow for responsible, unagendized, and clear-thinking leaders to put the United States on a track to a return to energy independence and economic autonomy.
This is not to marginalize renewable energy technology. We should absolutely employ renewable energy where and when we can; as the technology warrants by virtue of its strength in the free market. But until that time, we must approach our energy needs with an “all of the above” mindset; an all-inclusive policy that best serves the people of the United States, not the global elitists of the WEF and all its facilitation institutions (i.e. the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, and the US Federal Reserve).
That our elected officials in Washington – on both sides of the aisle – are so devoted to globalism to the detriment of the American people and the sovereignty of the US Constitution is yet another argument for a Convention of States.
