Federal Judge Dismisses John Brennan’s Lawsuit Against Justice Department
A federal judge on Thursday dismissed former CIA Director John Brennan’s lawsuit seeking to force the Justice Department to preserve records for his defense in the Spygate case. U.S. District Judge Jia Cobb, a Biden appointee, said Brennan lacked standing. Brennan’s lawyers argued that the Justice Department’s case against him amounts to vindictive prosecution and political retaliation. Judge Cobb found that Brennan had not shown that the records were being destroyed. She wrote that the allegations are deeply concerning but the injury is too speculative. Brennan is under investigation in South Florida as a target of the Russiagate probe and has been referred for prosecution by House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) over false statements to Congress.

FBI Probes Suspicious Letters With DSA-Linked Return Address
Senior Capitol Hill staff were warned about multiple letters containing suspicious substances mailed to congressional offices and addresses nationwide, including election offices. The Senate Sergeant at Arms notice said the Postal Inspection Service, FBI, and Capitol Police are investigating and working to intercept additional letters, though some may still reach their destinations. An image showed an envelope with a return address for the Democratic Socialists of America headquarters in New York City. It is unclear whether the DSA sent them. A representative said the group has not occupied the address since 2013 and is no longer headquartered at 75 Maiden Lane.

House GOP Pushes Bill Allowing Victims to Sue Sanctuary Officials
House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) said Republicans aim to pass the Shut Down Sanctuary Policies Act of 2026 in the lame-duck session. Rep. Tom McClintock (R-CA) introduced it, and it cleared committee last month. The bill lets victims of murder, rape, or felonies by illegal immigrants sue municipalities and officials who released them despite federal detainers. It strips some civil immunity, reasserts federal supremacy, requires honoring DHS detainers for criminal or traffic arrests, and withholds grants from noncompliant areas. Jordan said harmed people can “take that city, take that state to court.” An Indian national released earlier killed a woman outside a Sacramento restaurant.
DOJ Presses California to Review List of Likely Noncitizen Mail-In Voters
The Department of Justice sent letters Tuesday to California Secretary of State Shirley Weber and Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder Dean Logan requesting review of a list of likely noncitizens sent mail-in ballots for the Nov. 3 election. The thumb drives listed the names after Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin’s July notice that noncitizens were registered. Officials have 48 hours to verify citizenship, segregate returned ballots, and withhold unsent ones. The letter warned of emergency relief if the county failed to comply. A DOJ spokesperson said only American citizens may vote in federal elections and noncitizen voting is a federal crime. Logan said the county would review it but had not accessed the drive because of security concerns.
House Democrats Prepare Rapid 100-Day Agenda on Affordability, Trump Oversight
House Democrats led by Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) are readying a 100-day agenda to restore Affordable Care Act tax credits that expired in 2025, reverse Medicaid cuts including work requirements from the One Big Beautiful Bill, undo President Trump’s tariffs, and force votes against the Iran war if they win the House majority in next month’s midterm elections. They expect to begin in the first 100 hours after the new Congress convenes in January. Jeffries said Democrats will be united “right out of the gate” because “Fighting for an affordable America” unites the party as “the cost of living is way too high.” Five working groups co-chaired by progressives and centrists, such as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Rep. Terri Sewell (D-AL), are drafting shared policies. Ranking Democrats on Oversight and Judiciary are preparing investigations into Trump, his family, and the administration, with impeachment on the table.
Trump Cancels Planned Livestream of Fort Hood Shooter Execution
President Trump on Thursday canceled the Pentagon’s planned livestream of the firing squad execution of former Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, who killed 13 people and wounded 32 others in the 2009 Fort Hood, Texas, shooting. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth had announced the Dec. 3 public broadcast at the base. In a social media post, Trump called Hasan “a very bad and evil man” and said streaming “might have been a strong deterrent for the World to witness how America deals with Terrorists and SCUM like Hasan,” but “many very good and well-meaning people would rather not watch him die, through streaming, or through any other visual device.” “He will die, as scheduled, by firing squad, but this event will not be streamed,” Trump said. The victims' immediate families may attend in person.

Border Patrol Union Rejects Talarico Border Security Claims in Senate Race
The National Border Patrol Council said Texas Democrat U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico does not support border security, calling his recent ad claiming he criticized former President Joe Biden a false political ad. The union said Talarico labeled border funding a waste of money on dumb things and supported diverting $800 million from Texas border protection. It noted he voted against creating a Border Protection Unit and advocated pathways to citizenship for illegal aliens. Talarico’s website continues to describe the border as needing a welcome mat out front and a lock on the door while welcoming refugees and asylum seekers. His campaign provided no examples of public criticism of Biden during the former president’s term.
Former Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz Named In Sex Trafficking Lawsuit
Former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) is facing a federal civil lawsuit accusing him of participating in a sex trafficking scheme involving young women, illicit drugs and interstate travel. The 38-page complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida names Gaetz, former Florida state Rep. Chris Dorworth (R), and former Seminole County tax collector Joel Greenberg as defendants. Plaintiffs Jane Doe 1 and Jane Doe 2 seek a jury trial. “I look forward to taking the plaintiffs’ depositions because much of the conduct alleged against me is false,” Gaetz said. “The lawsuit relies almost exclusively on a Congressional Committee report that didn’t allow me to confront my accusers. Now I will finally have that chance.” The suit follows years of scrutiny over alleged sexual misconduct that led Gaetz to resign from Congress in November 2024.
Editor’s Note: Many in informed Florida GOP circles sounded the alarm about numerous issues with Gaetz years ago, to no avail.
Trans-Identified Male Arrested After Rifle Jams In Alleged Hindu Temple Mass Shooting Plot
A 19-year-old trans-identified male, Alexandros Paporakis, was arrested in Illinois after allegedly plotting a mass shooting at a Hindu temple in Aurora. Police said he drove from his mother’s home in Palatine armed with a modified AR-style rifle, 300 rounds of ammo, body armor, gasoline cans, and swastikas, intending to kill a significant number of Indians. The gun jammed when he attempted to open fire, so he drove home, searched for how to unjam it, and called a colleague about his intent. The coworker reported him, leading to his arrest. Investigators recovered a manifesto in which he called himself a sociopathic white supremacist Neo-Nazi. A Cook County judge ordered him held without bond and noted he receives cross-sex hormones for gender transition along with treatment for ADHD, depression and anxiety.
Editor’s Note: All locations involved are under the jurisdiction of Illinois State law, which outlaws “assault weapons”…so that seems to be working well.
Ninth Circuit Blocks California Law Requiring Ice Agents To Wear Identification
The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals blocked a California law requiring ICE agents to wear identification. The court found that Section 10 of the No Vigilantes Act violates the Supremacy Clause and that the public interest and balance of equities favor a preliminary injunction. The three-judge panel reversed the district court’s denial of a preliminary injunction and remanded with instructions to enjoin California, Gov. Gavin Newsom and Attorney General Rob Bonta from applying or enforcing Section 10. “Section 10 explicitly overrides the federal government’s power to determine whether, how, and when to publicly identify its officers, and therefore regulates the manner and conditions under which federal agents can enforce federal law,” Judge Mark J. Bennett wrote for the panel. The Trump administration had sued, arguing the state could not regulate federal agents.
Michigan Senate Candidate Abdul El-Sayed Cited Muslim Brotherhood Scion As Academic Inspiration
Left-wing Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed said he drew inspiration from the excellent works of Tariq Ramadan, a disgraced Oxford professor and grandson of Muslim Brotherhood founder Hassan al-Banna. Ramadan is known for diatribes against Jewish intellectuals and was sentenced to 18 years in French prison for raping three women. He was barred from working in the United States in 2004 after the Bush administration revoked his work visa over donations to charities linked to Hamas. El-Sayed told a 2011 podcast that he is interested in Islam in the West and recommended Ramadan, saying much of his work is excellent. El-Sayed has denied family ties to the Muslim Brotherhood despite his sister’s posts stating the family has long been MB and their mother was active in the group in college.

Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthis fired five missiles at the Maashiq presidential palace complex in Aden on Thursday, killing two security guards. Information Minister Moammar al-Eryani said Prime Minister Shaya Zindani and cabinet members present were unharmed. Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said they struck the Saudi enemy’s military operations headquarters in Aden as part of their policy of targeting Saudi military build-ups. The Houthi-run Saba news agency claimed hits on a Saudi-officer-run headquarters and weapons depots. Witnesses reported hearing loud booms near the palace. Aden is the seat of the internationally recognized government backed by a Saudi-led coalition.
Female Basij Commander Shot Dead Outside Home In Southeastern Iran
Afsaneh Aghila, commander of a Basij center in Mehrestan County in Sistan and Baluchestan in southeast Iran, was assassinated by terrorists affiliated with the US and Zionist Regime on Wednesday, local Iranian media reported. She was shot at the front door of her house. This was the second woman assassinated by terrorists in Sistan and Baluchestan in less than a week. Last week, Major Nosrat Eftekhari, deputy police chief of Sistan and Baluchestan, was assassinated after terrorists detonated a roadside bomb. Provincial police commander Sardar Mohammadreza Eshaqi described her as a woman of faith, courage and sacrifice and condemned the terrorist act. The Basij is a volunteer paramilitary force under the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Student Rioters Set Fire To Albanian Education Ministry After Unrest In France And Belgium
Thousands of students—mostly from immigrant and refugee communities—rioted in Tirana for a second day on Wednesday, setting fire to the education ministry and attacking the prime minister’s office plus finance and interior ministries and businesses. Police used tear gas and water cannons on youths in black. Enida Bimi told Reuters people are very angry at the system and need to change everything amid corruption. Deputy Prime Minister Albana Koçiu said Albania does not need to burn to change. Education Minister Mirela Kumbaro said the right to protest did not justify violence. Sixteen were arrested for violent acts. Reporting on the preceding French and Belgian unrest has noted second- and third-generation migrants joining far-left groups, such as Antifa.
Bulgaria Aims To Join Nato Anti-Drone Initiative By End Of October
Bulgaria will be ready to join NATO’s anti-drone initiative by the end of October, Defense Minister Dimitar Stoyanov said following two drone attacks on cargo vessels off the Bulgarian coast of the Black Sea in one week. “Expectations are that by October 30, we will already be part of the project,” Stoyanov told a parliamentary hearing. One vessel, the Guinea-Bissau-flagged HS Dignity, sank, resulting in 11 sailors missing at sea. Bulgarian authorities later called off search-and-rescue operations. Prime Minister Rumen Radev said the logic suggests the outcome benefits the Russian Federation and that he would summon the Russian ambassador. Russian Ambassador Eleonora Mitrofanova said she has no information from the Russian Ministry of Defense about the attacks but did not rule out a third-party provocation. Drones struck two other cargo ships in the same waters on Oct. 6.
Flavio Bolsonaro’s Lead Over Lula Narrows In Brazil Runoff Poll
Brazilian Senator Flavio Bolsonaro continues to slightly lead President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva heading into the October 25 runoff, but the gap has narrowed, a Datafolha poll showed Thursday. The senator, the eldest son of former President Jair Bolsonaro, would receive 47% of the vote compared with 45% for the president. Last week, a Datafolha poll showed the younger Bolsonaro leading Lula 49% to 45%. The poll’s result still represents a technical tie, as the margin of error is plus or minus 2 percentage points. Six percent of respondents said they would cast a blank vote, and 2% were undecided. In valid votes, Bolsonaro leads Lula 51% to 49%. Datafolha surveyed 2,520 people between October 13 and 14. The younger Bolsonaro surprisingly led Lula in the first-round vote earlier this month.
