2028 Military Tribunal Trial Date Set for Accused 9/11 Plotters After Decades
A U.S. military judge on Wednesday scheduled the trial of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and three alleged co-conspirators for June 5, 2028. Air Force Lt. Col. Michael Schrama rejected prosecutors’ request for a January 2027 start. He said more time is needed to settle pretrial fights over what evidence can be used. Mohammed is accused of planning the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people. He will be tried with Walid bin Attash, Mustafa al-Hawsawi, and Ali Abdul Aziz Ali. The men have been held at Guantanamo Bay for more than two decades. They were arraigned in 2012. A prior trial date in 2021 was canceled. An appeals court last year threw out a plea deal that would have spared Mohammed the death penalty. All four face possible military execution if convicted.
Editor’s Note: 25 years on, and the trial is just now commencing? Does anyone else feel this should have taken place decades ago?

Pennsylvania Governor Shapiro’s Infectious-Disease Surveillance Rules Would Allow Warrantless Searches
Gov. Josh Shapiro’s administration published proposed Department of Health regulations that would widen “disease control measures” beyond infectious-disease surveillance. The draft would cover diseases, infections and a “condition,” defined as a noninfectious medical ailment or other health-related event. It says the department or a local health authority may enter an apartment, building, health care facility, school, college, or other location during an investigation if the visitor shows official identification. The text says no person may interfere with an investigation. School employees cannot obstruct officials who meet with a student in private. The package also addresses medical records and school masking. State Sen. Michele Brooks called the proposal a catch-all authority over masking, distancing, a vaccine database, and private property. Pennsylvanians voted in 2021 to limit unilateral emergency powers after COVID-19.
Gang Members Flash Guns in Chicago Suburb as Police Hunt Outsiders
Hazel Crest, a south suburb of Chicago, is investigating a viral video of about 10 young men waving firearms in daylight in a residential neighborhood, in what is understood by locals to be continued gang bleed-over from Chicago. Police said the group professed gang affiliation and pointed guns at cameras. Some weapons appeared to have extended magazines. The men danced, rapped, and showed cash in public. The department said those shown do not live in Hazel Crest. Officers have identified a few subjects and are working to identify the rest. They asked residents to come forward. The investigation is ongoing.
Editor’s Note: This is not unique to Chicago. Ineffective and woke policies inflicted on Democrat-run urban areas across the country are experiencing the same spread of danger and lawlessness.
California Senate Votes Fines of $5,000 for Hidden Paid Political Influencer Posts
The California Senate on Aug. 24 passed a bill allowing fines for content creators who post paid political messages without disclosure. Assemblymember Marc Berman, a Democrat, authored the measure. It still needs an Assembly vote before reaching Gov. Gavin Newsom, who has until the end of September to sign or veto it. California already requires disclaimers on paid political posts. The current process lets the Fair Political Practices Commission seek a court order, which can take months. Berman’s bill would let the commission fine influencers and political committees directly, up to $5,000 per violation. Sen. Adam Schiff has introduced similar federal legislation that has not yet been voted on.
Hegseth Upgrades Valor Medals for Three Marines Who Fought Through Abbey Gate Blast
Secretary of War Pete Hegseth on Wednesday awarded upgraded valor medals to three Marines who served at Abbey Gate during the Aug. 26, 2021, suicide bombing in Kabul. The ceremony marked the fifth anniversary of the attack that killed 13 U.S. service members and more than 150 Afghan civilians. Lance Cpl. Jordan Houston and Gunnery Sgt. Jonathan Eby received the Bronze Star Medal with a “V” device. Cpl. Michael Gretzon received the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with a “V” device. Houston was knocked unconscious 10 meters from the blast, hid a hip wound, and treated other Marines. Eby reestablished a security perimeter and led casualty evacuations. Gretzon applied a tourniquet to his own arm and stayed at his post until ordered to stand down. The Marines served with the 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines. A separate Pentagon review of the Afghanistan withdrawal continues.
Trump Orders Lake Ontario Renamed Lake America After Canada Trade Talks Collapse
President Trump signed an executive order Thursday renaming Lake Ontario as Lake America for U.S. government use. He said the change is effective immediately. The order tells the Interior Department to update the Geographic Names Information System. Trump said the United States defends Canada for nothing and that Ottawa has ripped Washington off on trade. He said Canadian officials feel entitled and want to be treated like a state. The signing followed the collapse of trade talks last Friday. Trump said tariffs on Canadian cars, trucks, auto parts, and steel will rise to 50 percent by 2027. He first floated the idea of renaming this week on Truth Social, accompanied by a map with Lake Ontario crossed out.

California District Mandates Ethnic Studies Course Using Bin Laden Manifesto to Claim U.S. Targeted Muslims
North Monterey County Unified School District made a one-semester ethnic studies course a graduation requirement for the class of 2029 and beyond, following a July 23, 2026, board vote. Instruction began Aug. 11. Documents obtained by Defending Education show the district treats Osama bin Laden’s 2002 Letter to America as classroom evidence that the United States targeted Muslim communities. The same unit describes the Sept. 11 attacks as an event merely labeled a terrorist attack and places quotation marks around the word terror. It defines jihad as striving with a praiseworthy aim and states that 9/11 served as a catalyst for more blatant discrimination. Course slides frame America as an imperial colonizer and place English-speaking, cisgender, straight white men at the center of a Wheel of Power and Privilege. The materials include a map of anti-Sharia bills and cast Western nations as oppressors. The district thereby presents the al Qaeda leader’s justification for mass murder as a valid account of American policy.
Editor’s Note: This is beyond irresponsible. All of those associated with this wholly inaccurate and disgusting turn of events should be removed from power and never allowed to contaminate education again.
UChicago Professor and Senate Candidate’s Sister Describes Campus as Place to Build Political Power
University of Chicago professor Eman Abdelhadi, the maternal half-sister of Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed, said she works at one of the city’s largest employers and has access to thousands of people she could organize. In remarks recirculated this week, she called the university an evil colonial landlord, a healthcare provider, and a police force. She said she conducts one-on-ones with liberal colleagues who prefer the life of the mind in Hyde Park. Legal Insurrection editor William A. Jacobson told Jesse Kelly that some faculty enter academia to politicize rather than to teach. Abdelhadi is an associate professor in the Department of Comparative Human Development. El-Sayed faces Republican Mike Rogers in November.
CBC Memo Tells Staff Not to Call 9/11 Terrorist Attacks Ahead of Anniversary
An internal Canadian Broadcasting Company News memo told reporters and editors not to refer to the Sept. 11 attacks as terrorist attacks. The note came from Basem Boshra, senior director of journalistic standards and public trust. It said hijackings led to passenger jet crashes in Washington, Pennsylvania, and Manhattan, and that the World Trade Center was destroyed. Journalist Warren Kinsella first published the memo. A CBC spokeswoman said the network prefers to use “terrorist” and “terrorism” with attribution, a longstanding practice. Editor-in-chief Brodie Fenlon has written publicly on the same guidance. The reminder circulated as the 25th anniversary of the attacks approaches.
Editor’s Note: Every “journalist denying the attacks on the US on September 11, 2001, were, in fact, terrorism, is engaging in a grotesque rewriting of history and a complete abdication of their commitment to truth.
Utah Woman Indicted in $4 Million Medicaid Scheme Using Fake Sober Homes
A federal grand jury in Salt Lake City charged Jazzamin Tashay Clark, 43, with health care fraud, wire fraud, and money laundering. Prosecutors say she billed Utah Medicaid more than $4 million from July 2024 through October 2025 through Luv Well Care LLC and Creative Minds UT LLC. The indictment says she recruited homeless people and claimed to provide substance-abuse treatment that was never delivered, was provided by unlicensed staff, or was not covered. She rented houses in West Valley City, billed as sober living homes. Residents were left without monitoring or care. Claims used National Provider Identifier numbers belonging to out-of-state people who did not know they were being used. U.S. Attorney Melissa Holyoak said her office will pursue those who steal from taxpayer programs. Authorities seek forfeiture of funds tied to Clark’s entities, including a Las Vegas hair-extension business called Glam’d By Sisters.
Newsom Says He Never Knew $7.5 Million Home Held a 5,000-Bottle Wine Cellar
Gov. Gavin Newsom said he did not know his Fair Oaks home included a 5,000-bottle wine cellar. The $7.5 million listing went public this week as he and Jennifer Siebel Newsom prepare to leave Sacramento. Asked at a press conference whether he had filled the cellar, Newsom said, “Are you serious? Really?” He said he never filled it and learned the capacity from news reports. He said he put books there, calling them his only inheritance from his father. The couple bought the property in 2018 for about $3.7 million through an LLC tied to Newsom’s PlumpJack business. They purchased a home in Marin County in 2024. Newsom has a background in the wine business.
Editor’s Note: If you believe this, I have a homeless-person-free street to show you in Los Angeles. The fact that Newsom would lie about something as trivial as this should disqualify him from holding any office.

Moscow Says British Military Sites Could Be Hit Over Storm Shadow Strikes
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Thursday that Moscow could strike British military facilities and equipment in Ukraine and beyond. She said the warning applied to Ukrainian attacks on Russian territory that use British weapons. Britain this week said it would share classified technology so Ukraine can manufacture Storm Shadow, also known as SCALP, cruise missiles. Zakharova said Britain and France were playing with fire. She told British residents to consider the consequences of their government’s policy and urged London to drop what she called a hostile line. A U.K. Ministry of Defense official said Britain stands with Ukraine and that Russia should not doubt London’s resolve. The statement followed reports of a CIA director's visit to Moscow earlier this week.
U.S. Sanctions Italy Tech Collective Used by Portland Antifa and Designates Palestine Action
The State Department and Treasury on Wednesday designated Italy-based Autistici/Inventati, also called the A/I Collective, as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the group built encrypted email, web hosting and anonymity tools used by violent Antifa cells and by Hamas, Iran’s IRGC, Hezbollah and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. A State memo obtained by Fox News said Portland’s Rose City Antifa used the services to circulate ICE-target lists and a flyer urging lasers against Customs and Border Protection helicopters. The same package designated U.K.-based Palestine Action and the group Masar Badil. Palestine Action was already banned in Britain. The designations freeze U.S. assets and bar Americans from dealing with the groups. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Washington will cut their financial lifelines.
Haitian Gangs Kill 47 and Seize More Than 50 in Raid on Kenscoff
Armed gangs killed at least 47 people and kidnapped more than 50 others in Kenscoff, a hillside commune near Port-au-Prince, on Sunday. Twenty-two victims were executed in a church compound where they had sought shelter. Mayor Jean Massillon said the attackers burned 25 homes and killed two government employees, including his cousin, who served as his security detail. A gang leader posted a video warning Haiti’s national police chief that he would kill the hostages if any of his men were harmed. Officials blamed the Viv Ansanm coalition, which the United States has designated a foreign terrorist organization. The assault is among the deadliest in the mountain community since January 2025. Gang violence has displaced a record 1.5 million people nationwide and left more than 3,000 dead from January through June.
AfD Hits 43 Percent in Eastern Germany as Merz Approval Stays in the Teens
A Forsa survey for RTL and ntv found Alternative for Germany at 43 percent in eastern Germany if a federal election were held now. The Left polled at 16 percent. The CDU stood at 13 percent. The Greens and SPD each registered 9 percent. The FDP was at 3 percent. Nationwide, AfD led with 28 percent, followed by the CDU/CSU at 21 percent. Only 13 percent of respondents were satisfied with Chancellor Friedrich Merz. Eighty-five percent were dissatisfied. Forsa interviewed 2,501 eligible voters from Aug. 18 to 24. State elections follow in Saxony-Anhalt on Sept. 6 and in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania two weeks later. AfD co-leader Alice Weidel said the figures show voters want a political turnaround.
Glacial Collapse Sends Deadly Flood Through Nepal-Tibet Border Valleys
A glacial collapse and debris flow tore through the Nepal-Tibet border on Wednesday, killing at least 350 people and leaving more than 1,000 missing. The U.S. Geological Survey first logged a magnitude 4.4 earthquake, then said seismic records and satellite images showed ice and rock collapse, not a quake. Nepal Police recovered 359 bodies by Thursday afternoon. The Nepal Tourism Board said about 644 travelers remained unaccounted for, including 65 Americans, 35 Australians, 33 Britons, and 25 Canadians. India said 285 of its nationals could not be reached. China reported three dead and 558 missing in Tibet’s Gyirong County, including 260 foreigners. The flood hit Rasuwa District and Gyirong Port. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the United States would send $500,000 in emergency aid. Rain was forecast through Aug. 30.
