Authors Kelly Hayes and Mariame Kaba write that the U.S. government is the worldâs greatest purveyor of violence and that disrupting systems may be labeled violent by those in power. El-Sayed plugged the book at least 10 times as a sponsored message.

Iowa Democrat U.S. Senate nominee Josh Turek missed 261 votes in the state House during the early 2026 legislative session, or nearly 60 percent of the votes held between Jan. 12 and May 3. He received $20,100 in per diem payments for the period. Some absences aligned with fundraising trips outside Iowa, including periods that raised tens of thousands from California and Washington donors. Turek is running for US Rep. Ashley Hinson's (R-IA) seat being vacated by Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA).
New Orleans Becomes First Major Us City To Use AI For 911 Calls
New Orleans has become the first major U.S. city to route some 911 emergency calls through an artificial intelligence system for triage. The Orleans Parish Communication District deploys the AI Emergency Call Triage tool to handle certain low-priority or redundant calls, such as those near already-reported crashes when human dispatchers are busy. Officials emphasize the system does not replace human operators and was tested first on the 311 line. Critics, including a former dispatcher, called it a risky approach that could miss subtle cues in emergencies.

California City Declares State Of Emergency After Cyberattack Hits Systems
Suisun City, California, declared a state of emergency after malware infected its IT systems supporting 911 routing, police and fire dispatch, and other municipal services. The attack began early on August 7, prompting the city to shut down its entire network to contain the threat and preserve evidence. Emergency calls continued uninterrupted through a county dispatch center, and officials said there is no threat to public safety. The FBI, Department of Homeland Security and state agencies are assisting with the investigation and recovery.

44 Percent Of Muslims In America Support Terror Group Hamas Pew Poll
