CCP Intelligence Official, Trained Sniper Buys Building Steps From White House
A foundation linked to Philip Qiu, a Chinese official with ties to intelligence and state security agencies who underwent special forces training and recorded a top sniper score in a university exercise, purchased the historic Securities Building, approximately 650 feet from the White House, for $8.4 million in July. Qiu has held positions with Chinaâs Ministry of Public Security and the United Front Work Department. National security experts warned the location could enable surveillance or other intelligence operations against the White House complex. Qiu did not respond to requests for comment.

A Democrat National Committee policy panel in Austin advanced a resolution calling for the abolition of U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement. The measure passed 25-12 after debate over whether to replace the word âabolishâ with ârestructure.â The resolution now moves to a full DNC vote. Sponsors cited support among Democrat voters and past agency actions. Opponents argued it conflicts with prior calls for reform. The Republican National Committee criticized the move as favoring open borders.
New DHS Rules Cap Student Visa Duration to End Endless College Stays
The Department of Homeland Security's final rule ending the âduration of statusâ system for foreign student visas takes effect on September 15. Under the rule, F and J visa holders will be admitted for the length of their program, not to exceed four years. Extensions require a formal application to USCIS with federal vetting. The grace period after graduation is reduced from 60 days to 30 days. DHS said the change closes a loophole that allowed indefinite stays through perpetual enrollment.

Gun owners can now purchase those items without ATF forms or registration in covered cases. Gun-rights groups called the decision a major Second Amendment victory after nearly 90 years of restrictions.
Fifth Circuit Dismisses Planned Parenthood Appeal in Medicaid Fraud Case
The full U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit on Wednesday dismissed Planned Parenthoodâs interlocutory appeal in a whistleblower False Claims Act lawsuit alleging Medicaid fraud. The en banc court held it lacked jurisdiction under the collateral-order doctrine and vacated an earlier three-judge panel ruling that had granted attorney immunity. The case returns to the federal district court in Texas, where Planned Parenthood faces potential liability of up to $1.8 billion for continuing to bill Medicaid after Texas and Louisiana terminated its affiliatesâ eligibility. The suit stems from an undercover investigation that prompted the state terminations.

Texas Schools Bus Students to Mosque to Experience Islam
Students from Humble ISDâs Kingwood High School and Atascocita High School took a school-day field trip to the Centro IslĂĄmico in Houston, operated by IslamInSpanish. The visit, involving more than 30 students from Muslim Students Association clubs, included a mosque tour, observation of prayer, and lunch from a halal food truck. A promotional video from the center described the goal as countering stereotypes about Muslims. The trip has drawn criticism for an apparent lack of similar visits to Christian churches or other houses of worship.

Suspect Arrested and Charged for Vandalizing World War II Memorial in DC
U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro announced Friday that Melissa L. Farris faces two felony charges for allegedly vandalizing the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. The charges are depredation against property of the United States and destruction of veteransâ memorials, each carrying up to 10 years in prison. Vandals spray-painted âClean Hands Dirty $â and dumped bubble soap into a fountain at the site. Farris is in federal custody.

Haitian Gang Boss Sentenced to Life for Masterminding Kidnapping of Christian Missionaries
Joly âYonyonâ Germine, former leader of Haitiâs 400 Mawozo gang, was sentenced to life in prison without parole by a U.S. federal judge for orchestrating the 2021 kidnapping of 16 American Christian missionaries and one Canadian, including five children.
