Experts: US Has Drifted Back Toward a Pre-9/11 Mindset on IDs & Borders
Four of the Sept. 11 hijackers used cheap Virginia affidavits in August 2001 to get driver’s licenses after paying middlemen $35 to $100. Judge Leonie Brinkema later said those licenses gave them cover in American life. The 9/11 Commission answered with Real ID and a push for biometric checks at every port. Twenty-five years later, full biometrics still do not cover vehicles entering at land borders or most people leaving the country. Former INS national-security lawyer Art Arthur said officials treat 9/11 as a closed chapter and that the country is “back to Sept. 10, or Sept. 8.” Commission travel expert Janice Kephart said the win was forcing states to prove identity before issuing an ID, and that federal agencies now share data worse than the European Union. A House intelligence look-back found that the post-9/11 fusion centers exist on paper while agencies slip back into silos. Afghanistan evacuees arrived without last names or birthdates. Some state truck licenses still say “No Name Given.” Arthur said the gap is willpower, not technology.

Imam’s ‘America Is Going Down’ Clip Played Before El-Sayed at Detroit Convention
Democrat US Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed of Michigan spoke Saturday at the Islamic Society of North America convention in Detroit six days before the 9/11 anniversary. A montage before his remarks included Imam Siraj Wahhaj, an unindicted co-conspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, saying he was ashamed of America and that “America is going down.” The same reel showed El-Sayed fist-bumping Hasan Piker, who said America deserved 9/11. El-Sayed then gave a cost-of-living stump speech. Cleric Zaid Shakir followed and called members of Congress who backed an IHRA antisemitism definition “guilty of treason.” Cenk Uygur, a 9/11 truther, also spoke. Yasir Qadhi, who once called the Holocaust a hoax, was on the program. US Sen. Mike Rogers (R-MI) has demanded that El-Sayed withdraw.
Networks Stay Vague on GOP Midterm Convention as NFL Kickoff Looms
Republicans gather in Dallas Wednesday and Thursday for the first midterm convention, with President Trump speaking both nights. NBC will air the Patriots-Seahawks opener Wednesday. Netflix streams 49ers-Rams on Thursday. ABC, NBC, CBS, and MS NOW did not answer coverage questions. C-SPAN will carry gavel-to-gavel coverage. FOX News is broadcasting live from the site, including two-hour Hannity shows. RNC officials called Trump “ratings gold.” More than 20,000 people are expected. Some swing-state candidates are skipping it. GOP strategist Dennis Lennox called the event a dressed-up Trump rally and said that is why many networks are treating it lightly.
Editor’s Note: Of course, the NFL isn’t on all of these networks, especially the “news” networks, so that excuse is a lie. Betting money says they won’t give due coverage to any 9/11 memorials either.
Missouri High Court Orders Hoskins to Face Contempt Over Map Fight
The Missouri Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered Secretary of State Denny Hoskins to show why he should not be held in contempt for directing county clerks to use the 2025 Republican congressional map after the court blocked it. Hoskins must appear in person on Thursday. He said he will follow U.S. District Judge Stephen Clark’s temporary restraining order requiring the new map and cited the Supremacy Clause. Justice Brett Kavanaugh declined to lift the state court’s block. The 2025 map would likely eliminate US Rep. Emanuel Cleaver’s (D-MO) Kansas City seat. People Not Politicians sought the contempt finding after Hoskins emailed local officials that the federal order takes precedence.
CMS Bars 11 Suppliers Over $3.4 Billion in Suspected DME Billing Fraud
CMS said it is blocking 11 durable medical equipment suppliers from Medicare Advantage and Part D payments after identifying more than $3.4 billion in suspected fraudulent billing in 2025 and 2026. The firms had no claims before 2025, billed deceased beneficiaries, and billed for equipment never requested or received. Four had already been revoked from Original Medicare. A Florida supplier submitted about $18.4 million in catheter claims over two days. A Texas supplier submitted about $5.5 million in orthotics claims. Six beneficiaries said they did not know the company or need the devices. CMS Administrator Mehmet Oz said the agency is using data analytics with the White House Anti-Fraud Task Force. Company names were not released.
Michigan House Democrat Sought Land and Money Redistribution for America’s ‘Evil Deeds’
William Lawrence, the Democrat nominee in Michigan’s toss-up 7th District, said on an October 2024 Hegemonicon podcast that the left needed a framework for “a world without borders” and to “redistribute all the land and all the money.” He called inequality the result of “violence and evil deeds” and spoke of throwing open the gates to climate migrants. He is a Sunrise Movement cofounder and Hasan Piker fan who quit the DSA in July. He told reporters he does not support open borders and that old posts were “thinking out loud on the internet.” He deleted hundreds of posts, including a 2021 wish that Joe Manchin “hurry up and die.” He faces US Rep. Tom Barrett (R-MI). Trump carried the district in 2024.

Michigan Lawmaker Who Quit Democrats Tells Black Voters to Reject El-Sayed
State Rep. Karen Whitsett, who left the Democrat Party in March, told reporters that socialist politicians are “more racist than the KKK” and urged Black voters not to back Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed. She said far-left leaders treat Black voters like “slaves on the plantation” and named Al Sharpton and Horace Sheffield III. Whitsett said El-Sayed’s values do not align with Scripture or common sense and criticized his Medicare for All pitch as putting the government in charge of care. She is retiring at the end of 2026. El-Sayed has denied being a socialist while appearing with DSA-aligned figures. He lost Wayne County to Haley Stevens in the primary.
Harvard Republicans Flag Assassination Innuendo Ahead of Nick Shirley Talk
The Harvard Republican Club said Instagram commenters were insinuating independent journalist Nick Shirley should be killed at its Wednesday Cambridge event, a day before the first anniversary of Charlie Kirk’s death. UC Irvine and Chapman lecturer Matthew Goldman wrote, “Someone can do the funniest thing just before the Kirkiversary.” Account capecodsocialist vowed to make Shirley “feel unwelcome” and called the club fascists. Shirley, 24, is slated to speak at 6 p.m. on “Exposing Waste, Fraud, and Abuse.” His Minnesota daycare videos drew 135 million views on X and led HHS to freeze the state’s childcare payments. One featured center later faced a $4.6 million federal fraud charge. The event remained scheduled. Harvard University Police had not commented.
Cal State LA Professor Doxes ICE Agent and Tells Crowd to Target Him
Cal State Los Angeles pan-African studies professor Melina Abdullah named ICE agent Brian Palacios at the La Defensa del Pueblo Summit on Sunday and said he might be staying at a nearby Hilton Garden Inn. She told the audience to “f— him up” more than once and urged them to study guerrilla warfare from George Jackson’s “Blood in My Eye.” Abdullah, a Black Lives Matter Los Angeles co-founder, called Palacios a “killer ICE agent.” Palacios fatally shot Keith Porter Jr. on New Year’s Eve 2025 while off duty. The university said the remarks were at an off-campus event it did not sponsor. New York City Councilwoman Vickie Paladino called the comments terroristic threats against a federal officer.
Failing IL Billionaire Governor Pritzker Seeds $20 Million PAC Aimed at House Republicans in Red Districts
Failing Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker, a self-financing billionaire, launched Ready for the Fight PAC to put at least $20 million behind Democrat House candidates this fall. He is funding it from his fortune and plans to raise more. First targets are US Rep. Max Miller (R_OH), facing abuse allegations from his ex-wife, and Texas nominee Brandon Herrera, a gun-rights YouTuber in a district Trump won by 15 points in 2024. Pritzker said Democrats should not retreat to a handful of battlegrounds. The PAC’s video casts the party split as “team fights” versus “team cave.” He is also seeking a third term as governor and is widely seen as testing the waters for a 2028 presidential run. Ads were reserved as Republicans gathered in Dallas.
Report Says Elaine Chao Held China-Linked Posts During Cabinet Years
A recent investigative review of Chinese government and state-media records found that Elaine Chao has received at least four appointments since 2008 from a municipal government or United Front-linked groups. Some titles overlapped her service as labor secretary under George W. Bush and transportation secretary under Donald Trump. Records cited honorary chairman roles with the Jiading China Overseas Friendship Association in 2008 and advisory posts through 2017. Chinese media also reported a 2009 Wuhan municipal international adviser title. Chao’s 2017 Senate questionnaire listed “None” for honorary or advisory government posts in the prior decade. Spokesman Patrick O’Connor said she never held a foreign government position or acted for one and called the titles honorary. He said she was unaware of the Wuhan title.

US Sinks Five Iranian Oil Tankers After Failed Missile Attacks on Warship
U.S. Central Command said it destroyed five IRGC crude oil carriers after Iran fired ballistic missiles at an American warship over two days. The ship evaded the fire. No U.S. personnel were injured. Crews were told to abandon ship before the vessels were struck. CENTCOM called the tankers part of a multibillion-dollar shadow oil network. The United States sank three other tankers on Saturday after earlier missile fire. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Iran would lose tankers each time it tried to hit U.S. ships. Iran later said it struck a U.S. base in Jordan. Jordan said it intercepted 18 of 20 missiles. Two landed in uninhabited areas. No casualties were reported.
Iran Deploys Security Forces as Third-Tier Gasoline Price Doubles
Iran doubled the third-tier gasoline price from 5,000 to 10,000 tomans a liter for drivers using more than 110 liters a month, the second hike since December. Security forces, including the police, special units, and the Basij, were posted at stations and on the streets in Tehran, Mashhad, Shiraz, and other cities. Residents reported internet slowdowns and VPN outages. Officials cited the “current situation” and said extra revenue would go to households. Consumption hit 145 million liters a day in August against about 122 million liters of domestic production. A 2019 price increase brought nationwide protests and a crackdown.

Canada Restarts Defense Talks With China After Eight-Year Freeze
Canadian and Chinese defense officials held a “defense coordination dialogue” on Sept. 4, the first such meeting since April 2018, after Beijing jailed two Canadians. China announced the session. Canada confirmed it only after questions. Department of National Defence spokesman Nick Drescher Brown called it working-level military-to-military contact and said Ottawa does not publicize such meetings. About 10 Canadian staff from the Armed Forces, National Defence and Global Affairs attended. Beijing said both sides exchanged views on regional issues and wanted more practical military cooperation. The talks come as Prime Minister Mark Carney pursues a broader thaw and U.S.-Canada trade tensions rise.
Home Office Whistleblower Says 1 Percent of UK Asylum Claims Are Genuine
A Home Office asylum decision-maker, known as “J,” told The Times that, at best, 1 percent of claims are genuine. He said colleagues treat recycled “package claims” as a running joke. Hundreds of Iraqi Kurds said they slept with the daughter of the Kurdistan region’s prime minister. Hundreds of Pakistanis said they fled because they were gay and shared the same boyfriend who supplied fake support letters. Large numbers of Bangladeshis claimed senior roles in the ousted Awami League but could not answer basic questions about it. Staff are told to treat applicants as “customers.” Approvals are quicker than refusals. Grant rates have fallen from about three-quarters to roughly a third. The government declined to discuss anonymous briefings and said it does not check stories with home countries.
China Pumps $54 Billion Into State Banks and Insurers
China’s finance ministry will inject about 360 billion yuan ($54 billion) into eight state-owned banks and insurers, the companies said Sunday. Agricultural Bank of China plans to raise up to 160 billion yuan and ICBC up to 100 billion yuan through private A-share placements to the ministry and China National Tobacco. China Life will receive 35 billion yuan. PICC plans to raise up to 15 billion yuan. China Taiping gets 7 billion yuan. Sinosure gets 10 billion yuan. China Re will raise 3 billion yuan. Export-Import Bank of China gets 30 billion yuan. Officials said the funds will replenish core capital and solvency as loan demand stays weak and low rates squeeze profits.
