The Left's Hypocrisy On Gun Crime Is Killing People
The big headline from over the Independence Day weekend was that there was yet another mass shooting, this time in the affluent neighborhood of Highland Park, Illinois. A troubled teen opened fire in the predominantly Jewish (and White) neighborhood killing six and injuring over two dozen. But that doesn’t scratch the surface of the slaughter in Chicago over the weekend.
Over the period from Friday (7/1) through Monday (74), 55 people had been reported shot with seven fatalities among them, this excludes the Highland Park shootings. Add to that the 6 who were murdered and over two dozen injured and the total shooting deaths count 13 in the Chicagoland Area with over 100 people injured by gunfire.
Understand that these are not gun crimes committed by law-abiding citizens who are subject to the neverending onslaught of useless, do-gooder firearms regulations foisted upon the people by the opportunistic political class. Those perpetrating these crimes are criminals who do not care about the laws or regulations; the waiting periods, firearm type restrictions, or the background checks. They are criminals who do not care about the laws you and I must suffer under.
Chicago’s Track Record (Contemporary)
Since 2016, Chicago has experienced 4,401 homicides, culminating in 21,146 shooting victims, with 317 of those homicides occurring in 2022 to date. The victims of these homicides, per the Chicago Police Department’s own data, are overwhelmingly Black. In 2022, the racial breakdown of homicide victims in the Windy City present:
Asian Pacific Islander: 1
Black: 247
Black Hispanic: 1
Unknown: 1
White : 18
White Hispanic: 49
Of those who died at the hands of the Windy City’s criminal element this year, 162 were between the ages of 0-29 and another 28 were between the ages of 30-49. And remember, this is just data from January 1, 2022, to July 4, 2022.
Again – and this is critically important to hear and comprehend, these are violent gun crimes that are perpetrated by criminals who have absolutely no regard for any gun legislation put forth by the opportunistic and disingenuous political class.
(As an aside – and looking at Chicago exclusively, one has to wonder how the mainstream media complex can go on its sensationalistic “Breaking News” tirade about the High Park shooting and only refer to the more intense slaughter on Chicago’s streets over the weekend as a mere side note.)
The Street Blood Is But A Symptom
But if we are being honest with one another (a state in which the Leftist political class never exists), the blood running in the streets of Chicago is a symptom of a larger cultural cancer. The core issue culminates in a complete failure of government in both Chicago and Chicago’s home county, Cook County.
The first and primary task of government – above all else – is to provide security to the people; security of person and property. Everything else – everything – is secondary. By this measure, the city of Chicago – as well as most other urban areas under Democrat control – must be considered a failed government.
Last week, Democrat mayoral candidate and former Chicago Public Schools superintendent, Paul Vallas, posted this to social media after a group of criminals who routinely drag race in the city every weekend, attacked police officers responding to the mayhem:
“Last night complete lawlessness was on full display as drag racers descended on Cicero and Irving Park. When CPD began to arrive on scene they were violently attacked. Violent offenders kicked and jumped onto the CPD squad car shattering the windshield. Others opened the doors to the squad car and threw lit fireworks into it. These fireworks were wrapped in nails which exploded with the Officer still inside.
“The Officer is in serious condition. The historic level of violence being inflicted upon our brave CPD Officers absolutely infuriated me! These violent offenders and other criminals do not fear CPD and feel as if they can act with absolute impunity because of the anti-police rhetoric and the restrictions on proactive policing which is supported by the Mayor. The violent offenders know the Mayor and Supt Brown policies have handcuffed CPD Officers from doing any proactive policing and they are taking advantage of it.
“Not only [are] the Mayor and Supt Brown to blame for the lawlessness but let’s not forget the Cook County justice system. These violent offenders and other criminals know [that] even if they are arrested which is very rare, the Cook County States Attorney will likely not prosecute them or ask for a high bond. These violent offenders also know that even by some miracle they are actually charged the Judges will give them electronic monitoring and only a slap on the wrist...”
It’s The Leftist Policies Stupid!
As you can see, the criminal bloodletting in the streets of Chicago is the result of the political and governmental culture that has allowed it to metastasize. The disingenuous Black Lives Matter propaganda and the debilitating Defund the Police efforts have done nothing to protect the people of Chicago, and, by virtue of the data presented, absolutely nothing to protect the Black people of Chicago. In fact, both of those movements – in tandem with the failed governance in Chicago – have made life for the Black people of Chicago deadlier.
While opportunistic and fascistic politicians like Chicago’s Mayor Lori Lightfoot (“I have the biggest dick in the city”) and Cook County District Attorney Kim Foxx preach the sermon of victimization, racism, diversity, and equity, their actual policies – as well as the victimization and dependency policies of the Leftist culture implemented over the years – have not only indentured the people to the government, they have made existing in the City of Chicago and Cook County a gamble; they have made living in the city a more deadly proposition.
It’s More Than Just Chicago…
Sadly, Chicago is just the most obvious example of how Leftist policies have endangered the people. In every Democrat-controlled urban area – from New York to Los Angeles, Boston to Philadelphia, Houston to Baltimore, this carnage is routine, so much so that shooting and body-count reports fall on numb ears. The constant reporting of criminal gang crime and criminal gun crime in our major cities has become so commonplace it strikes the same tone as the teacher from the Peanuts cartoons; an endless incomprehensible and ineffective drone.
Over Independence Day weekend alone:
11 people were shot in 10 incidents in Indianapolis
Separate shootings in Baltimore that left 2 dead and 9 others wounded
A 5-year-old was killed in a drive-by shooting that also left an 8-year-old injured in Houston
St. Louis police reported at least 16 people were shot, including five dead
There were 24 shooting incidents across New York City, a 60 percent increase over last year
Jack Phillips of Epoch Times reports:
“Last year, the FBI said that homicides in the United States in 2020 increased nearly 30 percent over the previous year, representing the largest single-year jump since the agency started keeping track of such statistics.
“Homicides and non-negligent manslaughters climbed an estimated 29.4 percent to 21,570, an increase of 4,901 over 2019, FBI data showed. It’s the highest estimated total since the early 1990s, when homicides stayed above 23,000 a year as drug wars played out in many places in the United States.”
Hypocrisy & Racism Rolled Together
The opportunistic politicians of the Left are notorious for their duplicity when it comes to both gun crime and racism. While they decry gun violence their solutions exclusively target the law-abiding; those who follow the law, not the criminals who continuously live outside the law. And while they overplay the race card in their politics in an effort to Balkanize us by race to cobble together voting demographics, the working examples of their policies toward the people they are supposed to serve – and especially the Black community – exhibit the raw and undeniable truth that their policies serve to put more lives in danger than they protect. That is racism in practice.
And putting any trust that the agendized federal government will cease its false-flag operation of insisting that “White supremacist” groups are the chief domestic terror threats to our nation is the stuff of rainbows and unicorns. To believe that they would honestly target the urban street gangs and inner-city criminal syndicates responsible for the decades-long, ongoing slaughter in our urban areas as the true domestic terrorist organizations that they are, well, I don’t know if anyone with an IQ over that of a garbage bag can buy into that happening.

The Ghost In The Machine
Sadly – and more importantly infuriatingly, the carnage on Chicago’s streets and in the streets of all our Democrat-run urban areas will not decrease until the political machines that run roughshod over those cities are dismantled or severely crippled.
Trying to wrestle power away from Democrat machine politicians is an incredibly daunting task and one that will require the financial power brokers in each of those cities to examine themselves with an honest eye; to recognize that when they cut those campaign donation checks they are tantamount to loading the guns of gang members and criminals who terrorize our cities. Until they realize it is their politics that is killing our children, until they see the blood on their hands, nothing will change.
