Take It Easy…No One ‘Hates' Taylor Swift
I find myself sitting at my keyboard – stunned and incredulous – that I am writing about the over-marketed pop star Taylor Swift. Strange times, indeed, as they say. But the controversy brewing around Swift (or her manufactured persona) is starting to break into the political sphere, at least that’s what the deceitful manipulators of the Left would love to have happen.
For the record, I don’t “hate” Taylor Swift, although she certainly has no use for conservatives, such as I am. I have heard her music and although it is not my thing, I applaud her for reaching a level of success that very few have enjoyed in the entertainment field. To be sure, show business is a rough arena in which to hawk your wares.
That said, I don’t really know Swift’s music, nor do I want to. Bubble gum pop is not my thing, as I’ve stated. I find it rather opportunistically dreadful that a large part of her library was created to lament all the failed relationships in which she has been, making me contemplate whether she just makes awful relationship choices or whether she just might be the problem. Honestly, every artist has found a muse in the heartbreak of a dead romance, but for Swift, it appears to be a stock and trade.
But this is where the “normalcy” of this situation ends. Madison Avenue has forced the saturation of the market with everything Swift and the opportunistic greed of the National Football League (NFL) and the paparazzi mentality of the mainstream media find every opportunity to exploit her, even her attendance at a football game, causing football fans who have no interest in Swift to brew an insatiable nausea for the woman.
The Tragedies & The Wannabe Pimps Of The Entertainment Industry
Grant you, nothing is ordinary and non-exploitative with superstardom. The entirety of the entertainment industry and its marketing scheme is based on the exploitation of talent and those that can be marketed as talented (not always the same thing). Everything gets exaggerated and sometimes the center of attention loses touch with reality.
Many times this exploitation leads to tragic ends. The list of truly talented people driven to the ultimate demise by the entertainment industry is legend: Marilyn Monroe, Ernest Hemingway, Michael Jackson, Robin Williams, and Prince, to name a few.
So, too, it is true, that the greed merchants of the entertainment and marketing industries – who leech off the stars – use them as vehicles for their own successes, even while many times disingenuously presenting themselves to the stars as allies, confidants, caring management, and dedicated employees. Unconcerned about the mental or physical well-being of the “vehicles,” these parasites drive the vehicles until they are spent, irrelevant, outdated, or dead.
But for the succinct summary of the sycophantic entertainment industry, I digress…
The Political Angle
So, as we hurdle toward November 2024, the false narrative that conservatives, Republicans, and Trump supporters “hate” Taylor Swift is becoming more prevalent on social media, which means the dysfunctional brain trusts on MSNBC, CNN, and The View will, no doubt, start to make it a topic of conversation; exploiting the public’s distaste of the over-saturation of Swift in the media in an attempt to score political points for their preferred candidates and, specifically, President Joe Biden.
Li Zhou, a writer for the far-Left publication Vox.com, is one of those voices attempting to politicize the public’s nausea over Swift’s market saturation, writes:
“As a recent offering from conservatives goes, Swift is part of a psyop, or a psychological operation, that’s being used by the Pentagon to convince her followers to support Democrats. Yes, you read that right. That idea…has started to gain traction on the Right as Swift has gotten more media coverage related to her appearances at NFL games. The conservative furor around this theory — as well as similar ideas suggesting that she and boyfriend Travis Kelce, a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, are Democrat plants — has only intensified after the Chiefs made it to the Super Bowl Sunday night.
“‘I wonder who’s going to win the Super Bowl next month,’ former presidential candidate and noted conspiracy theorist Vivek Ramaswamy mused on X on Monday. ‘And I wonder if there’s a major presidential endorsement coming from an artificially culturally propped-up couple this fall.’
“These theories are a recent manifestation of an emerging conservative backlash and obsession with Swift fueled in part by political views she’s expressed, but more broadly by fear and misogyny in the right-wing manosphere.”
And then we have the uneducated responses and opportunist propagandists on X:
And when disgraced GOP rising star Liz Cheney pipes in with an endorsement of the exploitation you know it’s all the buzz in The View’s green room:
Of course, there were those, like Brit Hume, who tried to act as a voice of reason:
But if you think this is just a superficial social media story that will fade to black, think about this. The Biden re-election campaign is feverishly seeking Swift’s “endorsement” for the President. Swift endorsed Biden-Harris in 2020. Back then, the endorsement warranted a collective yawn from the American people.
2020 v. 2024
So, what’s the difference this time around?
It has to do with this. Swift is a rabid pro-choice advocate and the Democrats are making abortion rights the centerpiece of their party platform in 2024. The DNC’s choice to exploit Swift’s image and political beliefs is sweetened by the fact she is an LGBTQ+ advocate and boasts a hefty 279 million followers on Instagram.
Truth be told, this isn’t about a conservative/Republican/MAGA backlash against Taylor Swift for encroaching onto Sunday’s NFL line-up. It’s a pathetically contrived attempt at forcing a successful entertainer to engage more than she wants to in a political campaign that is doomed to failure
Everyone is burnt out on Taylor Swift because of what the parasitic leeches are doing with the illusion of Swift’s political persona. Madison Avenue and the woke NFL began the exploitation and the Left’s neo-fascist propagandists are running with it for their own politically narcissistic purposes,
Frankly, those pushing these false narratives are damaging Swift’s brand and if her lawyers were worth their salt they would be peeling off the cease and desist letters non-stop; the first one addressed to the Democrat National Committee.
I still don’t care for Swift’s music or her performances, from what I have heard and seen. I find both bland and homogenized. And she is far from being a legend. All the parasitic Remoras that hold onto her have achieved is to make sure she and her music are forgotten in a couple of decades. It’s sad really.
Nevertheless, here's a great piece of advice. If you are making your political election choices because of what a somewhat talented pop star is saying, you might be part of the problem here in our country.
