Insurrection: Does The Left Understand The Meaning Of The Word?
In The Princess Bride, Vizzini constantly uses the word “inconceivable” as an exclamation, whether the word fits the moment or not. At one point, another character, Iñigo Montoya looks at Vizzini after he misuses the word for the umpteenth time and says, “You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.” As life often imitates art, apparently the neo-fascist Left in the United States doesn’t understand the definition of the word “insurrection.”
According to the Cambridge Dictionary, the definition of “insurrection” reads thusly:
“...an organized attempt by a group of people to defeat their government and take control of their country, usually by violence…”
I spotlight this definition because the neo-fascist Left in the United States has been doing what they do best: selectively demonstrating their outrage while redefining words and phrases in real-time.
The Worst Thing Since ‘The View’
If you ask anyone who truly voted for President Biden (this would exclude the fictitious voters who had their ballots cast for them because of, well, COVID, don’t you know) they will tell you that what happened on Capitol Hill on January 6, 2021 was a bonafide insurrection.
To hear most of them tell it, the actions taken by the out-of-control MAGA mob at the command of their despotic leader, Donald Trump (there must have been hundreds of thousands of them coming from everywhere), came just a Doom’s Day Clock minute from destroying or Democracy (we don’t live in a Democracy, we live in a Constitutional Republic but then this is just another example of how the Left redefines words and phrases to suit their needs). Some even characterized the events of that day as worse than the Islamofascist attacks on our country on September 11, 2001.
There is quite a bit wrong with that thinking starting with the definition of the word insurrection.
First, to claim that the group that walked from the Trump rally to the Capitol Building was “organized” is the stuff of delusion. The rally at which Trump appeared earlier in the day consisted of people from across the nation yet all of the resources of the Department of Justice, FBI, and the total of the federal government failed to identify one command and control entity both before and also during. So – aside from those who are now recognized as on-the-clock federal law enforcement embedded in the crowd, to claim that the group was organized is outrageous.
Second, the overarching complaint the crowd was making at the Capitol Building was that the rules of the system used to elect the President of the United States weren’t followed in five states, therefore, the crowd insisted that the electors being seated from those states needed to be challenged, a provision available in the 3 US Code § 15 Section D, Paragraph 2 which allows for objections to the certification of electors. In fact, the First Amendment to the US Constitution codifies “the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
Aside from the small fraction of those who damaged property to enter the building (the overwhelming majority of the approximately 2,000 people who entered the Capitol Building were ushered in by Capitol Police and were “mostly peaceful”) the actions of the many that day were/are protected under the First Amendment. They were not attempting to “defeat their government and take control of their country,” they were demanding that the established rules be followed.
As a kicker to those two points – and as an argument against the false narrative that then-President Trump incited insurrection (a crime with which no one has been charged), nowhere in Trump’s public speech did he call on the rally attendees to “defeat their government and take control of their country.” As evidence, I provide that portion of the speech:
An Example Of Real Insurrection
In stark contrast, we did see real insurrection in every major city of the United States during the summer of the Black Lives Matter protests which force-fed a murder conviction for Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin, even as the facts later exposed that the victim, George Floyd, had a criminal record filled with violent crimes and whose final autopsy confirmed Floyd had a lethal dose of fentanyl in his system at the time of his death.
In protesting Floyd’s “murder,” New York, Philadelphia, Boston, Baltimore, Chicago, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, San Francisco, and Los Angeles – to name but a few locations – went up in flames. Rioters took to the streets smashing the windows of businesses, looting, and sending fire to everything else.
In Portland, Oregon, Antifa protesters set up what they called a CHOP Zone in which they declared the city of Portland no longer held sovereignty over that area. And in Minneapolis, Antifa and BLM rioters set fire to a police station. In Washington, DC, one Senator was attacked on the streets as the angry mob converged on the White House setting fire to the historical St. John’s Church.
In every instance of violent protest during the “Summer of Floyd,” legitimate acts of insurrection took place but the neo-fascist Left refused to acknowledge them as such. Instead, the citizenry was served up excuse after excuse for blatantly illegal activity while one disinformationist insisted the protests were mostly peaceful as cars burned behind him.
And Yet Again…
Another example of the neo-fascist Left redefinition came on January 13, 2024, when anti-Israel and pro-Hamas protesters attacked the White House.
According to Kos Temenes at The Epoch Times:
“A pro-Palestinian protest in the nation’s capital on Jan. 13 led to clashes between protesters and riot police, during which an exterior gate of the White House was nearly breached…
“The gate was placed as an added security measure to the existing primary gate. One rioter could reportedly be heard shouting to tear down the structure, while another could be heard screaming toward the White House, ‘You support the murdering of children.’
“The riot led to a partial evacuation of staff members from the White House, as rioters threw bottles and other objects, video footage shows…”
Almost all of the protesters were Americans who supported the terrorist group Hamas. There was damage to federal property at a sensitive location. The violence and intent of the protesters would almost certainly have resulted in the co-opting of the federal government and at the very least a forced change of foreign policy.
How was that violent protest not perceived as an attempt at insurrection – along with all the riots of the Summer of Floyd? Yet, Americans who are redressing the government about provable acts of malfeasance in the election process and the seating of electors to the Electoral College are considered insurrectionists?
Yes, the neo-fascist Left in the United States likes to redefine words and phrases and make things up. How else could:
The COVID vaccines be safe and effective
Bidenomics have righted the economy
China be a partner with the US on the world economic stage
Israel be seen as the aggressor when they were attacked
Donald Trump be the destroyer of democracies?
How else could Hunter Biden be a Ukrainian oil businessman?
Don’t look now, but we are now in the meat of the presidential election. I have no doubt there will be a lot more redefining, gaslighting and outright lying coming from the Biden administration in the days to come.
If you vote Democrat you really have some explaining to do…using the definitions used in the Cambridge Dictionary, please.
