Chicago 2024: ‘The Whole World Will Be Watching’
As the August 2024 Democrat National Convention approaches, pro-Palestine protesters – more aptly referred to as pro-Hamas protesters – have vowed to show up in droves. Demonstrations have already emerged around Chicago, the convention's host city, in what protesters call "lead-up mobilizations." This has caused massive headaches for Democrats, who have already faced disruptions on college campuses, at President Biden’s fundraising events, and at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
The expected 30,000 protesters in August are set to cause the largest disruptions to date.
Take Me Back To Chicago
The planned demonstrations at the convention have been compared to anti-Vietnam War protests outside the 1968 Democrat National Convention, which also took place in Chicago. The police clashed with thousands of protesters as the fractured Democrat Party nominated Hubert Humphrey, who ultimately lost the election to Republican Richard Nixon.
Tens of thousands of protesters swarmed the streets of Chicago in 1968, rallying against the war. The major groups involved included the Youth International Party (Yippies) and the National Mobilization Committee to End the War in Vietnam (MOBE), whose organizers included Rennie Davis, Tom Hayden, and the rest of “The Chicago 7.” While not exclusively Marxist, these were radical, left-wing, counterculture, anti-establishment organizations.
The 1968 convention protests lasted approximately seven days, from August 23 to August 29, 1968. Mayor Richard J. Daley was determined not to let the protestors overrun the convention, setting the stage for an explosive face-off between protesters and law enforcement, which included “shoot-to-maim” and “shoot-to-kill” orders by the mayor to the Chicago Police Department and National Guard.
Approximately 10,000 demonstrators participated in protests outside the convention, resulting in 668 protesters arrests and hundreds of injuries. In Chicago itself, over 48 hours of rioting, there were 11 deaths, 48 people wounded by police gunfire, 90 injured officers, and a total of 2,150 arrests.
The Hollow Words Of Promise
Democrats are contorting themselves to assure the public that 2024 will not mirror 1968. However, as Chicago’s mayor, Brandon Johnson, openly sympathizes with protesters, Democrats worry about an insufficient police presence while the city already struggles with a shortage of law enforcement staff, including patrol officers.
Those minimizing the upcoming protests note that the 1968 demonstrations occurred under more volatile circumstances – with the United States directly involved in a foreign war and following several high-profile assassinations, including the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy, Malcolm X, and Martin Luther King, Jr.
Although 2024’s demonstrations may create an “unwanted spectacle,” Democrats fallaciously argue that the party is more united now than 56 years ago. Joe Biden is expected to easily secure the nomination, although whispers of a “brokered convention” are audible.
A brokered convention is defined thusly:
“A brokered convention (sometimes called an open convention and closely related to a contested convention), in US politics, can occur during a presidential election when a political party fails to choose a nominee on the first round of delegate voting at the party's nominating convention.
“Once the first ballot, or vote, has occurred, if no candidate has a majority of the delegates' votes, the convention is then considered brokered. The nomination is then decided through a process of alternating political horse trading, delegate vote trading and additional revotes. In that circumstance, all regular delegates, who may have been pledged to a particular candidate according to rules, which vary from state to state, are ‘released’ and may switch their allegiance to a different candidate before the next round of balloting.”
Regardless, the Democrat Party is indeed fractured on the subject of Israel between its older and younger demographics – where the former views the latter as extremely radical. The prominence of antisemitic rhetoric in encampments and in protests doesn’t help and proves the younger demographic is not only jadedly radical but ruled by their emotions rather than facts as they present.
Last November, protesters clashed with police outside the Democrat National Committee headquarters in Washington DC, in support of the Palestinians and Hamas.
It should be noted here that the so-called “Palestinian people” supported Hamas in the last election with 44.45 percent of the vote in a seven-party race, securing 74 of the 132 seats in its ipso facto parliament. 71 percent of the Palestinians approved of the Hamas-led October 7th attacks on Israel, which killed 1,200 Israelis.
In the aftermath of the Hamas-led massacre and hostage-taking, the UN Special Representative on Sexual Violence in Conflict reported:
“Overall, based on the totality of information gathered from multiple and independent sources at the different locations, there are reasonable grounds to believe that conflict-related sexual violence occurred at several locations across the Gaza periphery, including in the form of rape and gang rape, during the 7 October 2023 attacks. Credible circumstantial information, which may be indicative of some forms of sexual violence, including genital mutilation, sexualized torture, or cruel, inhuman, and degrading treatment, was also gathered.
“With regards to the hostages, the mission team found clear and convincing information that some hostages taken to Gaza have been subjected to various forms of conflict-related sexual violence and has reasonable grounds to believe that such violence may be ongoing.”
Regardless of the overwhelming evidence of Hamas’s terrorist and criminal activities, as the Israel-Hamas war has dragged on, pro-Hamas activists have become more motivated, organized, furious, and increasingly ignorant, prompting Chicago police to prepare for mass violence.
Biden Hiding From The Electorate
The Biden administration is avoiding large crowds because pro-Hamas activists have taken advantage of every opportunity to protest. Student-led protests – which include non-student organizers – occurred in 45 states, and nationwide arrests surpassed 3,000. The more protests, the worse Biden fares in the polls.
The malevolent protesters aren’t just protesting Israel – they’re also protesting Biden and the Democrat Party’s more moderate wing.
Muslims in battleground states have drastically shifted support away from President Biden to former President Trump. In 2020, they backed Biden by a 56-35 margin. Trump flipped those numbers on their head, now leading 57-25.
Not only will Palestinian-sympathetic Muslims boycott Joe Biden, but many are abandoning him for his opponent while the Trump campaign quietly works on strategic initiatives to win them over.
The DNC’s Domestic Terrorism Conundrum
The Democrat Party is taking the threats posed by pro-Hamas protestors seriously. They are considering making the convention fully or partially virtual to prevent agitators from disrupting internal party debates and proceedings. This would help avoid the protests and the damaging optics that the disruptions would create for the Biden campaign.
If a 30,000-person protest erupts at the Democrat National Convention, Republicans and the Trump Campaign will have a legitimate opportunity to spotlight national chaos under Democrat leadership. It will also spotlight the chaos perpetrated by the radical Left in 2020. Democrats will be unable to hide from it.
Although the demonstrators claim to be protesting “genocidal acts” perpetrated in Gaza by Israel, they are actually pro-Hamas, which is an internationally recognized terrorist organization. The US State Department designated Hamas as such back in 1997. Therefore, it can be legitimately concluded that the pro-Hamas protesters are providing support to a militant terrorist organization, making the protests, which will undoubtedly turn violent in Chicago this August, acts of domestic terrorism.
The pro-Hamas protesters – and we must couch them as pro-terrorist – pose a significant threat to the already crime-riddled streets of Chicago. Under Chicago’s mayor – as with his predecessor, Lori Lightfoot – the Chicago Police Department is constrained in what it can do regarding law enforcement and large-crowd illegal activity, much like riots would be classified.
With an estimated 30,000 pro-terrorist protesters expected to converge on the Windy City for the Democrat National Convention, the results could be three times as bad as in 1968 and a disaster for not only Chicago but also the Biden campaign and the Democrat Party.
The radical neo-fascist Left in the Democrat Party has grotesquely overreached and over-estimated its popularity with the American electorate. It is time to neuter and disenfranchise this Marxist-based, neofascist, Obamaite-led hostile takeover of the Democrat Party from influence in the United States. It is the only way to return to constitutionalism. It is the only way to save the Republic.
