Biden Allows the Mask to Slip; Exposes a Key Tactic of the Transformative Left
It was a comment that almost certainly found Valerie Jarrett and David Axelrod cringing – as well as the army of far-Left activists and operatives at their disposal. Of all of the gaffes and misstatements President Biden has made in the short time he’s been in office, this one telegraphed the transformative Left’s favorite and most used tactic: Projection.
After a marathon of meetings with the European Union, G-7 partners, and NATO allies it was announced that the NATO alliance will provide Ukraine with equipment and supplies to protect against chemical, biological, and radiological, as well as nuclear weapons.
Vladimir Putin’s Russia has been documented as having previously used chemical weapons on the battlefield, including in Syria, Chechnya, and in Africa. Putin’s Federal Security Service (FSB), is attributed with attacks using poisons against Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny and against former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in London.
Frustrated with the Russian military’s inability to roll into Ukraine with impunity, Putin has been saber-rattling about the possibility of using chemical or biological weapons – as well as nuclear – against civilian populations to force the country to surrender.
Prior to his trip to Europe, Biden intimated that Putin was falsely accusing the US and Ukraine of employing biological and/or chemical weapons to justify Russia’s own use of those banned weapons in Ukraine.
“Russia has a long track record of accusing others of what they are either already doing or about to do, and that is the kind of projection that we’ve seen in the last couple of weeks. And it’s very scary,” Biden said in an interview Tuesday.
Why This Is Important
If you pay attention to American politics then you have witnessed the far-Left’s use of projection before. The tactic is used by not only elected Democrats but by the activists and organizations who support their agendas and efforts.
Projection – or psychological projection, is defined:
“...a defense mechanism in which the ego defends itself against disowned and highly negative parts of the self by denying their existence in themselves and attributing them to others...Projection incorporates blame-shifting and can manifest as shame dumping...”
Examples of Democrats projecting onto their opponents – be they Republicans or anyone else they see as impediments to their goals – are numerous, including labeling their opponents as racists and xenophobes, and accusing them of committing acts they are executing themselves.
As far back as the Civil War, Reconstruction, and the ensuing Civil Rights movement, Democrats – who not only existed in the many governors’ mansions and legislative majorities of the segregated South – projected their racism and the guilt of their racism onto Republicans who, in fact, existed at that time as an abolitionist political party.
Today’s activists and false narrative crafters continue the projection of their race-based division and guilt onto Republicans (and now Libertarians and Independents who don’t acquiesce to the re-written history) deeming them the racists. A 2019 poll by Axios (not exactly a conservative outlet) determined that a full 61 percent of those identifying as Democrats labeled Republicans as racist when asked how they would describe the other party.
Yet history shows that Democrats created and promoted the Ku Klux Klan, opposed the passage of the Civil Rights Act, and, through the institution of The Great Society, transformed the slavery of the working plantations to the slavery of government dependence. More recently it was revealed that Republican and conservative economic policies benefited minority communities to a greater extent than anything Democrats have ever come up with yet the projection continues.
Democrats and the far-Left have projected their divisive race policies and historical racism onto everyone else.
Another example of political projection comes in the claim that then-presidential candidate Donald Trump had illicit and collusive relationships with foreign governments, specifically Russia, that illegally or unethically infringed into the political sphere.
An accurate recollection of recent events reveals that quite contrary to the claims, it was Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden who had unethical and nefarious relationships with foreign governments. These relationships, which did invade the political sphere, include:
Hillary Clinton’s sign-off on the Uranium One deal
The Clinton Foundation’s decades of quid pro quo donations from connected foreign sovereigns
Joe Biden’s “Big Guy Remittance” from Hunter Biden’s business relationship with the Ukrainian oil company Burisma
Joe Biden’s business involvement with Sinohawk Holdings, an organization that partnered with a primary Communist Chinese financial firm
Joe Biden’s hosting of Mexican billionaires Carlos Slim and Miguel Alemán Velasco (his son Hunter's business associates) in the official offices of the Vice President to facilitate a “flippin’ gigantic” business deal
This is not to say that Republicans aren’t guilty of some shady blurring of ethical boundaries when it comes to gleaning opportunistic profit off their elected positions. The leveraging of power and access for opportunistic financial gain is a common inside-the-beltway, Deep State game that defines American political corruption (just ask Mitch McConnell about his family’s direct ties to Communist China’s biggest shipping company). But Republicans don’t openly and carelessly project their unethical acts onto Democrats for political gain.
This is why it is so important to recognize Biden’s slip of the tongue in his comments about chemical and biological weapons in relationship to Vladimir Putin’s saber-rattling.
“Russia has a long track record of accusing others of what they are either already doing or about to do, and that is the kind of projection that we’ve seen in the last couple of weeks...”
In his statement, Biden projects onto Putin using the tactic that he and his political party have perfected over the years: Projection. He let it slip and the shadowy coterie of puppet masters that rule the far-Left can be none too pleased.
Now, the question is this. Having invited the curiosity of the world to examine the far-Left’s use of this unseemly tactic, will the American public and the people of the world start recognizing it when they employ it and start holding them accountable at the ballot boxes?
