Still in place today is a process, shrouded in secrecy, whereby penalty settlements levied against banks and financial institutions are distributed to a labyrinth of special interest non-profit organizations involved with "grass-roots" activism. A report by the House Judiciary Committee reveals that the Obama Administration funneled billions of dollars to pet activist organizations through a DoJ slush fund scheme.
When banks and other financial institutions are sued by the DoJ for discrimination or mortgage abuse - something that happened a lot under Pres. Obama, they currently are allowed to settle by donating to third-party "non-victims" (read: non-profit groups), and there are no restrictions on what the third-party "non-victim" groups can spend the monies.
Some of the groups that benefited from this scheme include National Council of La Raza, the National Community Reinvestment Coalition and the National Urban League, all of which are politically active to a Progressive bent. For example, NCRC actively promotes illegal immigration and advocates for benefits and driver’s licenses for undocumented immigrants.
This is exactly the kind of activity the Federal Government should not be engaged in. This is why the notion of limited government is so crucial to the well-being of our nation.
Progressives are going to fight tooth and nail against the downsizing and disengagement of the Federal Government because this engagement is one of the big three pillars for fundamentally transforming the United States from a Representative Constitutional Republic to a Socialist Democracy lead by oligarchs; the other two pillars being control of the education system and the information flow.
If we are to get our country back, Constitution-loving Americans cannot rest and must make the hard choices to be engaged. That's just the way it is...
