As the Christmas season gets into full swing the usual suspect politically correct Scrooges are taking to attacking a Christmas song for it's "intent." To say they are piggybacking off the recent rash of topic de jour sexual harassment/assault claims would be an understatement.
It appears that the oh-so-sensitive Left (I liken them to the yuppie neighbor characters in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation) has the Christmas song "Baby It's Cold Outside" in their crosshairs because, they insist, the man is coercing the woman into having sex with him.
Period, context and an actual reading of the lyrics not only prove this criticism to be absurd, it actually spotlights te real issue at hand. If we are to dissect this song by 2017 standards, then the ugly thing about it isn't the courting ritual that takes place, it is the societal shaming of the woman that is evidenced in the lyrics.
If the Left is all about free expression and a woman's right to choose what she does with her body, then the "slut shaming" should be the target of their ire, not the male's quest to court a woman he find attractive.
In a day and age when society has embraced high school boys and girls simply hooking-up for sex over social media portals, this fake outrage about a Christmas song is as disingenuous as it is pathetic.
