Last November, Google and Facebook announced a concerted effort to combat what is commonly referred to as "fake news." There is just one problem with that. These to information behemoths are using Snopes, the George Soros connected Left-leaning, self-anointed perveyor of truth. Now comes word that the effort is being exported to France and the EU.
A new "fake news" conglomerate of 17 newsrooms was announced just days ago in France. Google News Lab and Facebook are partnering with a number of organizations in France including Buzzfeed News. Buzzfeed was the "news" organization that reported Pres. Trump liked to watch Russian prostitutes urinate on themselves. The story was debunked as a fake news story shortly after Buzzfeed ran with it.
The danger in information mega-handlers like Google and Facebook taking it upon themselves to divine what is news and what is not is significant. We already know that executives and upper management at both Google and Facebook align with the Progressive Left. Facebook was caught skewing their news feed to exclude conservative-leaning stories and elevating liberal ones. And Google's CEO hob-hobnobbed with Obama and his Chicago handler Valerie Jarrett on a number of initiatives (by the by, Google is the default search engine for all federal computers).
When two outlets like Google and Facebook start deciding - for us - what is truth and what is not, especially when they have already displayed an ideological activism, we stand at center stage in the global production of George Orwell's 1984. NewsSpeak is here...and we are all less informed for it
